Lead / Principal Solution Architect – Enterprise Solutions

The Lead / Principal Solution Architect serves as the technical bridge between client requirements, executive vision, and hands-on engineering execution. At Apexone, this role is responsible for designing end-to-end, scalable, and secure system architectures that unify software platforms — Enterprise AI, Universal Loyalty Ecosystems, Digital Banking Core, blockchain Centralized Exchange (CEX) — with hardware infrastructure across AIoT, Industrial Automation, Edge Computing, and Smart City ecosystems.

This role is critical to Apexone's positioning as a Master System Integrator (MSI) for smart city initiatives across Malaysia and the ASEAN region. You will architect technology frameworks that integrate Intelligent Command and Control Centers (ICCC), IoT sensor networks, AI analytics platforms, citizen applications, and e-government services into unified, interoperable ecosystems. You will also serve as the key technical authority for government digital transformation projects — ensuring compliance with Malaysian public sector ICT standards, MyGovUC, and security frameworks.

As a senior technical leader, you will collaborate closely with AI Engineers, Software Teams, Hardware Specialists, and Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) to validate protocol mappings, database schemas, and integration patterns. You will lead Architecture Review Boards (ARB) and ensure modularity, reusability, and sovereign data compliance across all four core capability pillars.

Key Role Objectives:
A. Enterprise Architecture Design
  • Cloud-Native Platform Architecture: Design end-to-end composable, cloud-native architectures for enterprise digital platforms, ensuring 99.99% system availability, sub-second latency, and auto-scaling resilience.

  • API-First Microservices: Architect microservices-based API frameworks connecting front-end applications (Web / iOS / Android / HarmonyOS) with backend transaction cores, payment hubs, and blockchain ledgers.

  • Modular & Reusable Design: Establish architectural patterns and reusable components that accelerate delivery across multiple projects and client engagements.

  • Technology Roadmapping: Define multi-year technology roadmaps that balance innovation with stability, ensuring long-term architectural viability.

B. Smart City & Master System Integrator (MSI) Architecture
  • MSI Technology Framework: Architect the technology framework for Smart City initiatives — integrating Intelligent Command and Control Centers (ICCC), IoT sensor networks, AI analytics, citizen applications, and e-government platforms.

  • Multi-Vendor Integration Architecture: Design integration architectures that orchestrate multiple technology vendors, OEMs, and system integrators into cohesive, interoperable ecosystems.

  • Infrastructure Re-usability: Ensure smart city infrastructure is architected for maximum utilization, scalability, and future convergence across multiple projects and government departments.

  • Citizen-Centric Architecture: Design systems that enable seamless citizen engagement across digital ID, e-services, payments, and communication channels.

  • Data Interoperability: Architect data exchange frameworks that enable secure, real-time information sharing across urban systems — traffic management, public safety, utilities, healthcare, and education.

C. Physical-Digital Integration (Hardware + Software)
  • OT/IT Convergence: Oversee the convergence of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), ensuring seamless data flow between embedded edge controllers, SCADA/PLCs, vision systems, and cloud analytics platforms.

  • Edge-to-Cloud Architecture: Design hybrid architectures that optimize data processing across edge devices, on-premise infrastructure, and multi-cloud environments.

  • Protocol & Device Integration: Validate and architect connectivity frameworks for industrial protocols — Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, MQTT, OPC UA — across diverse hardware ecosystems.

  • Hardware-Software Co-Design: Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to ensure embedded systems, robotics controllers, and IoT gateways are architected for seamless software integration and remote management.

D. Compliance, Security & Sovereign Governance
  • Zero-Trust Architecture: Embed Zero-Trust Architecture, OAuth 2.0, and end-to-end AES-256 encryption across all solution designs.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs satisfy stringent regulatory benchmarks including PCI-DSS Level 1, ISO/IEC 27001, Malaysia PDPA, Oman PDPL, GDPR, and Central Bank cybersecurity frameworks.

  • Government ICT Standards: Ensure compliance with Malaysian public sector ICT standards — including MAMPU guidelines, MyGovUC Unified Communications framework, and MyGOV cloud adoption policies.

  • Data Sovereignty: Design architectures that guarantee data residency within national borders, with encryption keys managed locally to ensure sovereign control.

  • Security by Design: Embed security controls at the blueprint stage, eliminating costly retrofits and ensuring audit-ready compliance from day one.

E. AI Engineering & FDE Collaboration
  • AI Integration Architecture: Architect integration patterns for Enterprise AI deployments — including RAG pipelines, vector databases, private LLM hosting, and multi-agent orchestration frameworks.

  • Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) Support: Collaborate with FDE teams to design architectures that enable on-site data ingestion, custom pipeline building, and private container deployment within client firewalls.

  • AI Governance: Architect AI governance frameworks that address bias, privacy, regulatory requirements, and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) controls.

  • MLOps Architecture: Design MLOps pipelines that enable automated deployment, real-time monitoring, drift detection, and continuous retraining.

F. Client Engagement & Pre-Sales Engineering
  • Feasibility & Boundary Assessment: Conduct technical feasibility studies and Red/Yellow/Green boundary assessments prior to project onboarding to eliminate scope creep and feasibility bottlenecks.

  • Executive Advisory: Serve as the trusted engineering authority during executive advisory sessions, translating complex tech stacks into clear business outcomes and ROI models.

  • Proposal Development: Lead technical proposal development for government tenders — including technical architecture diagrams, solution blueprints, compliance matrices, and implementation roadmaps.

  • Government Engagement: Engage with government procurement departments, ministries, and municipal councils to architect solutions aligned with national digital agendas and public sector ICT standards.

G. Cross-Functional Technical Leadership
  • Architecture Review Boards (ARB): Lead Architecture Review Boards to maintain modularity, standard tech stacks, and reusable components across all four core capability pillars.

  • Technical Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and technology selection criteria.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with AI Engineers, Software Teams, Hardware Specialists, and FDE teams to validate protocol mappings, database schemas, and integration patterns.

  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide technical teams on architectural best practices, emerging technologies, and design thinking methodologies.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • 8–12+ years of enterprise architecture or systems integration experience across Enterprise AI, Fintech, Blockchain/CEX, Smart Industry/IoT, Multi-Merchant Platforms, or Smart City ecosystems

  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record of designing high-throughput AI, digital banking platforms, blockchain/smart-contract engines, complex IR4.0 automation systems, or Smart City MSI architecturesEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business Administration

  • Smart City & MSI Knowledge: Strong understanding of Master System Integrator (MSI) lifecycle — including design-build-operate and design-build-transfer models — and experience managing system integration within urban ecosystems
